Why isn’t Coronation Street on tonight and when is it on this week?

Coronation Street fans hoping to get their latest dose of the beloved ITV soap may be disappointed tonight.
The long-running soap typically broadcasts Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV, with episodes also available to stream each morning from 7am on ITVX.
However, this week, Coronation Street has undergone a significant schedule overhaul. Corrie aired on Sunday evening at 7:30pm and Monday night at 8:30pm.
On Tuesday evening (tonight, 14 April), the popular ITV soap will not be broadcast and has instead been replaced by the Women’s European Qualifier between England and Spain, which kicks off at 7pm.
The same applies to Emmerdale, as the ITV soap also aired on Sunday evening at 7pm, Monday night at 8pm and will not feature on Tuesday due to the football coverage, reports the Daily Star.

Nevertheless, it’s not all bad news as both soaps return to their regular schedules on Wednesday 15 April, Thursday 16 April and Friday 17 April.
This comes as Coronation Street left viewers on a cliffhanger in Monday’s episode, as Todd Grimshaw attempted to escape his abusive husband Theo Silverton.
Theo has been tormenting husband Todd for months, even manipulating him into matrimony last month in a deeply troubling turn of events. More recently, his menacing behaviour has begun to unravel as he desperately attempts to flee to Belfast with Todd.
Having discovered that Theo may be responsible for Billy Mayhew’s death during the Corriedale crash — fans will recall that evil Theo allowed the vicar to die instead of rescuing him — Todd declared he no longer wished to travel to Belfast.
Theo went along with the scheme until he locked Todd in their bedroom before launching a violent assault on him as he tried to flee. Monday’s episode concluded with a bloodied Todd turning up at Sarah Platt’s flat before collapsing in distressing scenes.
Later this month, Coronation Street is set to broadcast a gripping whodunnit. Earlier this year, soap fans were treated to a flash-forward episode, in which the ITV soap unveiled five potential murder victims – Megan Walsh, Theo, Maggie Driscoll, Jodie Ramsey and Carl Webster.
In the episode, set in the future on April 23 2026, a visibly distressed Betsy Swain was shown speaking to detectives about discovering the lifeless body of someone she knows.
Dressed in wedding attire, she revealed that she had been attending the marriage of her mother Lisa Swain to Carla Connor, but was making her way into town when she stumbled upon the shocking find… could it be Theo?
